The Think Build Change Salone Initiative
About The Think Build Change Salone Initiative
In 2002, the civil war that had plagued Sierra Leone for ten years officially came to an end. The country and its citizens are still dealing with the trauma, destruction and the great and noble task of rebuilding SweetSalone. The problems facing this nation are vast but change is by no means impossible. Someone once said that you have to be the change you want to see but I would go further yet and say that we have to think, be, and do the change we want to see in our country and on the mother continent on a whole. Being an African is not a question of geography but a matter and manner of existence. Every Sierra Leonean has a role to play in the rebirth of our nation.
What we hope to do here is not only to get Sierra Leoneans to think about the contributions they want to make to Sierra Leone’s development but to take it a step further and commit to taking action. We will provide you with all necessary and available information, resources and assistance that you need to stake your claim on the economic, political and social development of our country. John F. Kennedy once told Americans to ask not what their country could do for them but what they could do for their country. Thus, the burden of our nation’s development rests solely on our shoulders. It will require great sacrifice from all of us, but nothing worth achieving ever comes without compromise and hard work. So that in order for us to Think Salone, Build Salone, and Change Salone, we must do so collectively; as Salone People.
